Close your eyes and imagine for a moment, that your ipod, books, pen, and paper supply were taken from you all at once. The only device that you are able to access is a laptop with a battery lasting no greater than four hours, and which is rather noisy, not to mention, a bit heavy, when you must carry it everywhere, that is if you wish to take notes. Also, it is impossible to obtain a pen and paper much less an ipod or reading materials. No doubt, a feeling of desperation, incompleteness, helplessness, and a sense of inconvenience settles in. You begin to ponder constantly of all the pleasant days, when the convenient devices were available to you, and how, you were able to work it efficiently. These are the feelings that I obtain, if my braillenote, a braille pda, gets lost or breaks. It most certainly represents me as a person, not to mention, it means a great deal to me, because this device aids me in working effectively, provides a word processing system, and plays my music.
The braillenote represents me as a blind individual, because blind persons utilize assistive technology to learn, study, take notes, plan their day, jot down notes and numbers, write, read, sometimes play music, use a calculator, and other such tasks. It is a popular device, which provides a quick, but excellent solution to being unable to write with a pen and paper, quickly but quietly glance at a watch, transport a calculator, provides an accessible gps, and furthermore, it may even play music. It also allows people to organize addresses along with other information, have a planner, a way to access the internet and chat, play games, read digitally recorded books, and look up words, besides the basic functions. The pda does not only represent me as a blind person, however..
As a writer, I always have my braillenote at hand, as it's primarily called a notetaker. I utilize it to take notes, write stories, or simply jot down great rampant plot bunnies. I enjoy carrying a pen and paper or equivalent with me, but since, pen and paper is useless to me, I use the wordprocessor. I constantly write or jot down great ideas when I have a moment to myself. This is when, the braillenote becomes quite useful. Also, as a reader, I use the wordprocessor to read books, which I attempt to make a habit in my spare time. As a good writer, I discover it is crucial to read. However, while the wordprocessor is helpful, that is not the only reason that the braillenote is so significant.
I enjoy the media player and that represents me as well. It is of significance, because listening to music is a large part of my life. I collect music and have at least collected thirty-six gigabytes of music. Music allows for me to deal with stress relieving, mood setting, and sometime serves as background music.
In general, the braillenote is important to me. It is an essential part of my life, and represents me well. It is a fantastic tool and somewhat an inanimate best friend. I hope that this gives you, my audience, a greater sense of the person that I am.
